EPA Couldn’t Prove Contamination Yet Due to “Trade Secrets”….

EPA Couldn’t Prove Contamination Yet Due to “Trade Secrets”….

Residents of Pavillion, a ranching town in Wyoming, are having a hard time trying to determine if their drinking water is safe or not. EnCana a Canadian drilling company is currently on the hot seat of debates whether they have caused the adamantanes and 2-BE contamination based on the initial EPA findings. The company maintains that it is almost virtually impossible that their “hydraulic fracturing” fluids would reach the aquifers and contaminate ground water. This would have been resolved in a much faster pace if not for the fact that the EPA had no idea what exactly they’re looking for. The chemicals and other industrial compounds used for the hydraulic fracturing are protected trade secrets. Residents are furious especially because some complaints date back 15 years. Although the company expressed willingness to provide the EPA a list of chemicals used, it may just be a start of a long and tedious process which may involve some policy changes. A good thing to note is that somehow were making progress.

If these would indeed turn up something, then the hydraulic fracturing process which was first used back in 1903 may need some form of upgrade. Further government funded research is badly needed. This is also similarly beneficial for oil well drilling companies on the possibility that the process in question may not have anything to do with the contamination. It may be a long shot to get a concrete solution about this issue immediately but as water contamination is a global concern, technologies like filters and water treatments may be the only things that could come handy these days.

Bottled Water or Water Filtration System?

Bottled Water or Water Filtration System?

Chlorine, Chloramines, microscopic particles, pharmaceuticals and a host of contaminates and toxins enter our homes every day through our faucets. Today it is common to see a home with under sink water filters, drinking water filters or a bottled water system to provide clean and safe water for drinking. But even the best drinking water filters leave you unprotected in the shower, washing clothing and even using your dishwasher. Without a whole house water filtration system you are not protecting the health of your family from the exposure to harmful unfiltered water.

Additionally, the quality of our air is affected by the lack of whole house water filtration! Harmful chemicals in the water such as chloramines and chlorine can release vapor into the home when the water is running and this can cause respiratory problems and trigger asthma.

Home water filters protect the entire home by filtering from the source; where the water comes into the home. The water is filtered with a broad spectrum filtration protecting you in the shower, your children in the bath, your clothing in the wash and your dishes too! The air quality is protected as well since any water that is run in your home will have been filtered first.

A few facts regarding water may help you to fully understand the importance of whole house filtration instead of simply providing bottled water.

First, one danger comes from bisphenol A or BPA in plastic water bottles which is shown to be hazardous to humans, yet is still in use. This doesn’t even include the damage to the environment of a huge number of plastic bottles that reach the land fills.

Second, the maximum safe level for chlorine set by the EPA is 4.0 mg/L for an adult; however, for children they say 3 mg/L is safe. Many treatment facilities report levels between 3.2 and 3.9 mg/L. This is barely safe for a full size adult, the smaller adults and children are left unprotected and the elderly and infants and those who are sick and need extra protection often get worse.

It is not enough to avoid drinking chlorine or chloramines. The body absorbs the chemicals and contaminates it comes in contact with like when bathing or showering. Additionally, vapors are also absorbed through the skin and inhaled in showers. All of the chemicals and contaminates then enter the bloodstream.

With this in mind, during an average shower it is a safe assumption that you can consume more chemicals and contaminates that you will by drinking it; particularly if you are a kid who loves playing in the tub for a long time. House water filters offer you the safety in the tub that the best drinking water filters or bottled water system will not.

A whole house water filtration system removes chloramines, chlorine, lead, arsenic, pharmaceuticals and other chemicals and contaminates from the water. This leaves you with safe water from any tap in your home and leaves your air clear of the pollutants that can occur from the tap.

City Water, Well Water, Bottled Water: Know What You’re Drinking

City Water, Well Water, Bottled Water: Know What You’re Drinking

We all depend on water for our survival and we all have it running in our homes. Regardless of if you are using city water, well water and bottled water you run the risk of taking in toxins and contaminates; some sources run a bigger risk than others. Do you know what is in your drinking water? It is often chlorine, chloramines, lead, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and even feces and without the best drinking water filters you may be at risk!

Our drinking water quality continues to fall and the government is not doing much about it. Chlorine or worse yet, chloramines are being added to our water supply to act as a disinfectant and with the levels used this in itself poses a serious risk. Even purchased drinking water programs often fail to filter out all of the chemicals and contaminates in the water used and many of them do not remove chloramines. Chloramines are a combination of chlorine and ammonia and can become carcinogenic when combined with some organic compounds, the same organics that are commonly found in our water sources. Another problem is posed with bottled water and that is the toxins that are in the bottles. BPA in plastic drinking water bottles has been linked to cancer making another concern we must keep in mind with our drinking water.

Additionally our ground water is suffering much contamination with the huge level of pesticides, animal feces from farming and other contaminates that reach our ground water and put us in risk. This is why, no matter what the source of your drinking water is, water filters are a necessity.

We have established that water filters for our drinking water such as under the sink water filters are a must, but can we really afford to neglect the contaminates and toxins that are in the water that we shower in, wash our clothing and dishes in and brush our teeth with?

The human body contains about 60% water. The quality of the water we drink is important; however, equally important is the water we expose our bodies to. Our skin absorbs everything that it comes in contact with including contaminates and toxins that are in the water while we shower. The longer we are exposed to the water the worse that exposure is and children who enjoy playing in the bath for thirty to forty minutes are at an increased risk. This can be lessened greatly with the installation of a whole house water filtration system.

We need water to survive; however, that survival can be made much longer when the water is pure and clean and free from toxins. If you are not using the best drinking water filters or better yet, whole house water filtration, you may be consuming chlorine, sediments including rust, drugs, industrial waste, animal waste and in total about 80,000 chemicals and toxins.

City water, well water and even bottled water is simply not always safe for human exposure. High quality water filters can protect you and your family from the harmful and often deadly contaminates in the water. With all the pollution and toxins in the world today that increase our risks of cancer, home water filters can greatly reduce some of the risks.

Are Chloramines in City Water Making You Sick?

Are Chloramines in City Water Making You Sick?

What does your city use for a detergent in the public water? Most people will answer chlorine and many just may be right; however, cities are beginning to use a chemical compound called chloramines to treat the water. Chloramines are created by combining chlorine and ammonia and sticks around in the water longer than chlorinated water. Chloramines are also simple and inexpensive for the public utilities systems to use. What you may not know; however, is that chloramines are not a stable and safe chemical compound and they have not been fully tested for human exposure. Additionally, the public utilities are not required to let you know ahead of time if or when they make the change from chlorine to chloramines, it may simply not be stated or a small blurb someplace on the back of your bill.

A little information about chloramines will help you to understand just what the benefits and or dangers that lurk in your water and how you can protect your family from them. When chloramines combine with some organic material, the same organic materials often found in the public water systems, it can convert the compound into various carcinogens. Chloramines also have known and reported adverse effects including respiratory ailments. Skin rashes, blisters, welts and severe dry skin or eyes have also been reported from people that have been exposed to chloramines after their public water utilities switched from chlorine. While chlorine will dissipate from the water, often before reaching the customer, chloramines do not and must be removed with chloramine water filters.

Many people have installed under sink water filters to filter the water they drink and use for cooking. Even the best drinking water filters cannot protect you in the shower. To remove chloramines and other contaminates such as arsenic, lead and sediments in the shower and other places you use water other than for drinking you must use whole house water filtration systems.

Whole house water filters are hooked up to the incoming water from the utility company so that all the water you use is filtered and safe. To remove chloramines from all water coming into your home you are making your shower and bath safe as well as the water you use for washing dishes and washing your clothing. Additionally, specialized water filters can remove lead from water and remove arsenic from water; why risk absorbing these and other chemicals and contaminates through your skin?

Many people have reactions to chemicals from public water and do not even realize what is making them sick. Many symptoms of the flu or allergies could actually be adverse reactions to chloramines or contaminates in the water. The risk of cancer is another serious concern of improperly filtered water. Understanding the risk and knowing how to avoid these potentially dangerous illnesses is the first step. The next step is purchasing a whole house water filter and installing it on your water source from the public utilities system. There are a variety of styles and filters to choose from allowing you to customize your whole house filtration system. Is it important to you to allow fluoride in the public water to come through? Filters can be customized to allow the fluoride or to remove fluoride from water; whatever is important to you.

Make sure the water you drink, the water you brush your teeth with, the water you shower in, the water your children play in and the water you wash your dishes and clothing is safe and filtered.

Drinking Fluoride Water: Good or Bad?

Drinking Fluoride Water: Good or Bad?

Most everyone is aware that our public water systems include fluoride that is added to the water. The reason for the addition is to help prevent tooth decay; this is good right? The answer to this depends on the source of the fluoride as well as the levels that are added. Current common fluoride levels are on the high side which can have the opposite effect on teeth as well as presenting other health hazards.

According to the WHO, World Health Organization, lower levels than what are currently in our public water systems have been linked to bon cancer in younger boys as well as approximately 10,000 cancer deaths each year. The largest problem with the fluoride that is added to our water is not just in the levels but also in the source; most fluoride used for public utilities are actually a waste product.

Calcium fluoride is the natural fluoride source that can be added to water for beneficial properties. The fluoride in our public utilities drinking water is silico which is from sodium based fertilizer or by-product from the aluminum industry; both of which are about 80% toxic. The public utilities go for the affordable means of getting by.

With fluoride compounds in public utilities at higher levels than what is safe combined with the toxic source of fluoride itself and the thousands of toxic chemicals and additives that are in our public water system it is imperative to homes to use quality water filters. A high quality system such as a whole house water filtration system can purify all the water that comes into the home including a water filter to remove fluoride.

In addition to the risk of the fluoride that is in our water, some packaged foods and most tooth paste also contains fluoride. Adding fluoride to the water system is outdated and unnecessary today. With all the fluoride added we are becoming overloaded and this has serious potential long term health consequences. Installing under sink water filters can protect us from the fluoride as well as the other contaminates and toxins in our water.

A Water filter to remove fluoride is as important as a water filter to remove lead or a water filter to remove arsenic. These are all toxins that can create much damage to our bodies from our drinking water as well as the water we are exposed to in our shower and bath. Fluoride has been linked with Alzheimer’s disease as well as aluminum has been. Using a sodium fluoride from the by product of the aluminum industry increases those risks. Additionally, lower IQ scores and an increase in cancer are being linked to the fluoride and contaminates in our water systems.

Whole house water filtration with a multi-level filtering process results in your entire home being protected from the massive number of toxins and contaminates in our water. The toxins that are absorbed through our children’s skin in the baths are just as dangerous as contaminates they may drink. Even the best drinking water filters will not protect them in the bath. It is up to each individual to protect our homes from the toxins that are introduced into it. Water filtration is one very important step.
