Quality of Bottled Water Questioned in Congress!

In 2008, Americans drank 8.6 billion gallons of bottled water, double the amount of a decade ago, with more than half saying they drink it because it is safer and healthier than tap water.

But at a hearing Wednesday, members of Congress were briefed on two new studies that question whether bottled water is safer than water directly from the faucet. Afterward, the committee sent letters to 13 companies requesting more information about the source of their water and how it is tested.

Chemicals in Our Food, and Bodies

Your body is probably home to a chemical called bisphenol A, or BPA. It’s a synthetic estrogen that United States factories now use in everything from plastics to epoxies — to the tune of six pounds per American per year. That’s a lot of estrogen.

More than 92 percent of Americans have BPA in their urine, and scientists have linked it — though not conclusively — to everything from breast cancer to obesity, from attention deficit disorder to genital abnormalities in boys and girls alike.

Should you be concerned??

While the American Chemistry Council doesn’t think you should be, I am!

There are just too many studies and articles that you should be concerned over the chemicals that our in our water, food and ultimately our bodies.

Country Unifying Against BPA In Products

In a matter a few years at most, babies living in the USA will likely be off the BPA-laced formula. Washington Post documents two important developments which signal this likelihood. In Bills Would Ban BPA From Food and Drink Containers, WaPo reports that “Leaders from the House and Senate introduced legislation…that would establish a federal ban on bisphenol A in all food and beverage containers.”

What’s In Your Soup And Other Canned Foods?

Think BPA is just in platic containers? Think again buckoo!

Consumer Reports’ latest tests of canned foods, including soups, juice, tuna, and green beans, have found that almost all of the 19 name-brand foods tested contain measurable levels of Bisphenol A (BPA).

What this means is that if the health of your family is important (and whose family isn’t important?) you need to do all that you can to eliminate/minimize your exposure to BPA.
