The Contamin-Eater
Whole House Filtration system and the Legacy Drinking Water Filters both
utilize Selecto's
Hollow Carbon Technology and have 40 times the dirt
holding capacity of conventional carbon block filters. Therefore, in
most situations there is no need for a Sediment Pre-Filter when you
use these products.
However, there are exceptions:
1 - Well water
is usually high in sediment. Most well owners benefit from
having a sediment pre-filter even if their water is otherwise very good.
2 - Old municipal water systems like Boston sometimes are very
high in sediment due to old pipes.
3 - Old houses with old, steel pipes may need a sediment
pre-filter.
4 - Municipal water systems that are under construction or making
substantial changes to their pipes. Sometimes these systems
suddenly allow a "dump" of water containing very high sediment (dirt)
levels. Our customers in the Houston area are benefiting from
using a pre-filter for sediment to protect their Contamin-Eater or
Legacy system.
If you are in one of
these situations, you may want to consider installing a sediment
pre-filter. After all, the primary reason you are purchasing a
Contamin-Eater or Legacy water filter is for chemical removal. You
don't want your whole house or drinking water filter cartridge ruined
because it is full of dirt when an inexpensive pre-filter would have
extended the life of your primary filter by many months and saved you a
lot of money in the long-run.
