How Selecto's
Nano-Filtration System Compares
with Reverse Osmosis Water Purification
Systems:
Unlike conventional Reverse Osmosis
Systems, the SMF NF 620-2 operates at a lower pressure, with a higher flow
(2gpm). The Nanofiltration membrane has a lower fouling rate and does not
generate corrosive water. It’s also environmentally friendly, with less
waste-water generation and energy consumption compared to RO systems.
Depending upon the incoming water pressure, a SMF booster pump can be added
to provide a consistent pressure for Nanofiltration systems. Different sizes of
storage tanks can be used for operations that require higher flow or
higher water usage.

-How Does SMF Nano-Filtration Work?
|
|
Water passes through a
high capacity SMF IC620 filter to remove chemicals such as chlorine and
chloramine (chlorine + ammonia) that could harm the nanofilter membrane.
It also acts as a pre-filter by trapping large particles which extends the
life of the nano membrane. Then the water enters the SMF NF620 where
pressure pushes the water through the semi permeable membrane while
preventing contaminants from passing through. Waste particles are
rinsed off the membrane and discharged through a small drain tube on the
bottom of the nanofilter. But the only thing you and will notice is
the crystal clear, great tasting water!
Depending upon the incoming water
pressure, a booster pump can be added to provide a consistent pressure for
the system. Different sizes of storage tanks are available (from
others) for
higher flow and/or higher water usage needs.

NANO-FILTRATION MEMBRANES EVERY SIX MONTHS
The Nano-Filtration membrane is the
most sensitive and expensive part of your Nano-Filtration system and should
receive routine maintenance. Like changing the oil in your car, de-scaling your
Nano-Filtration system every 6 months will optimize performance, can double the
life expectancy of your system, and will ensure your warranty. De-scaling
is easy! Simply exchange the IC620 cartridge on your system with a Nano-Membrane
De-Scaling cartridge and run water through the system for 20 minutes.
Reinstall or change the IC620 cartridge, discard (recycle) the de-scaling
cartridge, and run water through the system for 10 minutes. Done!
